History and Evolution of Cadet College Razmak

Cadet College Razmak was established through a Presidential order on December 27, 1977, and began its operations in 1978. The college welcomed its initial batch of 100 cadets in March 1978, admitting students in classes 7th, 8th, and 9th. These cadets were divided into two houses: Ghazali and Bilal. Over time, as the college grew, it expanded to include six houses, namely Ghazali, Bilal, Jinnah, Babar, Abdali, and Khushhal.

The annual intake of cadets stabilized at 80 for several years, until changes were made in 2012 to stop entry to class 7th and increase the intake to 92 cadets, resulting in the selection of only 12 cadets for class 8th in 2013. Since the 2016 entry, the college has been admitting 140 cadets per year.

Cadet College Razmak takes great pride in its alumni, who have excelled in various fields. The institution has produced more than 500 doctors, 415 engineers, and 475 officers in the Armed Forces. Additionally, over 600 Razmians have ventured into diverse professions, such as civil services, IT, politics, and education.

Due to the prevailing law and order situation, the college was temporarily shifted to Peshawar in 2009. However, it was reopened at Razmak in May 2011. Unfortunately, the unstable circumstances forced another relocation to Aman Gharh in April 2012.

The facilities at Aman Gharh were ill-suited for habitation, with 20 to 25 cadets squeezed into a single room. There were no proper playgrounds, and the teaching-learning environment was severely compromised.

Concerned parents and ex-cadets raised their voices, demanding the relocation of the college. In response, the army appointed a serving Colonel (a Razmian) as Principal, with a mission to revitalize the institution.

Under the leadership of the Principal and the support of Commander 11 Corps, suitable accommodation was secured at Nowshera cantt for the college. This new location, reminiscent of the original Razmak setup, was constructed in the 19th and 20th centuries and provided all the necessary requirements for the college.

By March 6, 2013, the entire college was successfully shifted to its new premises. However, recognizing the significance of its original location, Cadet College Razmak returned to Razmak in September 2015, reclaiming its rightful place.
